What WP-TB4 is

TB-500 is the research designation for synthetic thymosin beta-4 (Tβ4), a naturally occurring 43-amino-acid, N-terminally acetylated peptide that is the major actin-sequestering molecule in most mammalian cells. This product is the full-length sequence (Ac-SDKPDMAEIEKFDKSKLKKTETQEKNPLPSKETIEQEKQAGES).

Mechanism described in the literature

Tβ4 binds monomeric G-actin, regulating the pool available for filament assembly and thereby cell motility. The central actin-binding motif (LKKTET) is required for its migration-promoting activity. Studies describe Tβ4 activating integrin-linked kinase (ILK) and Akt in cardiac cells, promoting endothelial and keratinocyte migration, and influencing inflammatory signaling in wound models.

Research areas

  • Actin dynamics and cell motility
  • Dermal wound-healing models
  • Cardiac cell migration and ILK/Akt signaling
  • Corneal epithelium models
  • Anti-inflammatory signaling in injury models
