What WP-KPV is

KPV is the tripeptide Lys-Pro-Val, corresponding to the C-terminal residues 11–13 of α-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH). It retains the anti-inflammatory activity of the parent hormone while lacking its melanocortin-receptor-mediated pigmentary activity.

Mechanism described in the literature

In cell models KPV is transported into epithelial and immune cells by the oligopeptide transporter PepT1 and inhibits NF-κB activation and downstream pro-inflammatory cytokine transcription (e.g., IL-6, IL-8, TNF-α) in a melanocortin-receptor-independent manner. Intestinal epithelial and colitis models are the best-characterized systems.

Handling and storage

Store sealed vials at -20 °C, protected from light and moisture. 2–8 °C is acceptable for short periods such as transit and receiving. Allow a cold vial to reach room temperature before opening to avoid condensation on the lyophilized cake.

Vials ship sealed, cushioned and with a desiccant pack in plain packaging. Each vial is labeled with the product code, net content and the research-use designation. A packing slip lists the product codes and quantities ordered.
