What WP-RT3 is

Retatrutide (LY3437943) is a synthetic 39-amino-acid peptide engineered as a single-molecule agonist of three receptors: the glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) receptor, the glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor and the glucagon receptor. A C20 fatty-diacid side chain promotes albumin binding and extends the half-life in the research literature.

Mechanism described in the literature

In receptor-pharmacology studies, retatrutide shows balanced activity at GIPR and GLP-1R with lower, but functionally relevant, potency at the glucagon receptor. The three pathways are studied together because they converge on cyclic-AMP signaling in pancreatic islets, the hypothalamus and the liver, with glucagon-receptor activity of interest for its role in hepatic energy expenditure and lipid turnover.

Handling and storage

Store sealed vials at -20 °C, protected from light and moisture. 2–8 °C is acceptable for short periods such as transit and receiving. Allow a cold vial to reach room temperature before opening to avoid condensation on the lyophilized cake.
