What WP-GSH is

Reduced L-glutathione (GSH) is the tripeptide γ-L-glutamyl-L-cysteinyl-glycine, the most abundant low-molecular-weight thiol in mammalian cells. It is supplied as a lyophilized powder for redox assays, enzyme studies and cell-culture work.

Mechanism described in the literature

GSH is the cofactor of glutathione peroxidases and glutathione S-transferases, the substrate of the GSH/GSSG redox couple that buffers cellular thiol status, and a conjugating agent in phase-II xenobiotic metabolism. Its synthesis through glutamate-cysteine ligase and glutathione synthetase, and the regulation of that pathway by NRF2, are central topics in the literature.

Handling and storage

Store sealed vials at -20 °C, protected from light and moisture. 2–8 °C is acceptable for short periods such as transit and receiving. Allow a cold vial to reach room temperature before opening to avoid condensation on the lyophilized cake.

Vials ship sealed, cushioned and with a desiccant pack in plain packaging. Each vial is labeled with the product code, net content and the research-use designation. A packing slip lists the product codes and quantities ordered.
