What WP-NAD is

Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) is the oxidized form of the central redox cofactor of cellular metabolism — a dinucleotide of adenine and nicotinamide joined through two phosphate groups. It is supplied as a lyophilized powder for bench use (enzymatic assays, redox studies, cell-culture media supplementation).

Mechanism described in the literature

NAD+ cycles with NADH as the electron carrier in glycolysis, the TCA cycle and oxidative phosphorylation, and is the consumed substrate of sirtuin deacylases, poly(ADP-ribose) polymerases (PARPs) and the CD38/CD157 NADases. Declines in tissue NAD+ with age and the salvage pathway through NAMPT are major themes of the research literature.

Handling and storage

Store sealed vials at -20 °C, protected from light and moisture. 2–8 °C is acceptable for short periods such as transit and receiving. Allow a cold vial to reach room temperature before opening to avoid condensation on the lyophilized cake.

Vials ship sealed, cushioned and with a desiccant pack in plain packaging. Each vial is labeled with the product code, net content and the research-use designation. A packing slip lists the product codes and quantities ordered.
